Touted as one of the best video doorbell by cnet, August uses the same resolution as that of a GoPro camera and comes in a slick design and promises a lot in terms of features.
With a GoPro camera resolution of 960p and higher frames per second, August doorbell assures users of great motion detection and image quality. When you slow down the footage you can view graphics clearly at a good frame rate.
We also liked the live streaming options and recording capability of this doorbell. But, the standout feature is the clean two-way audio that lets users interact with visitors at the door or listen to what’s happening outside.
Unlike, Ring’s doorbell, the August video doorbell offers video storage options for a specific amount of time (just like the Skybell HD), which seems fair enough.
One unique thing we noticed with this doorbell is that it records videos in a vertical format, thus giving you a portrait view of the recording on your phone.
Lastly, we were put off by the “zero-night vision” feature of this doorbell.
So, you can expect poor video quality at night or when the weather is dull outside. The installation, too, is not easy and takes some drilling hassle, plus intensive time to finally get around it.

Chui Video Doorbell
This video doorbell was launched as the world’s smallest doorbell, but it has a lot more to its credit besides its miniature size. For one, Chui video doorbell comes packed with some exclusive features that make it quite interesting in a world full of lookalikes.
We were easily swayed by the facial recognition feature of this doorbell which makes it somewhat unique than rest of the video doorbells out there. Chui can be programmed to snap familiar faces in its “memory” and automatically unlock the door for them or keep it locked for unrecognized faces or strangers. But, it also means users will have to go through the pains of making a list of people whom they want to give access to.
The number of features packed into this doorbell is something we wanted to check out. And, we were not let down. Chui can read alphanumeric codes and QR codes that can be used as passwords to enter through the door. You can also pre-record your message for the visitors and play it as soon as Chui recognizes them. However, except for a handful of devices, Chui doesn’t offer wireless integration with IoT devices such as Amazon’s Echo, et al.
If you are looking for a wifi doorbell camera then it would disappoint you !!
That being said, getting your hands on Chui’s video doorbells will take some time as their production is limited and they are only taking pre-orders, currently. We can surely expect more from them in the future.

HeathZenith Notifi Smart Doorbell
HeathZenith’s Notifi smart doorbell is what one would call an Apple product in the video doorbell market if only intricate, solid design would be the parameter. Albeit, there’s apparently a lot more to it than only the state-of-the-art design part.
What struck us as the most impressive aspect of this doorbell is its durable in-built LED light feature and 720p HD camera that can take quality snaps and provide crystal clear footage in real-time to your smartphone.
This guarantees a battery-free operation, and at the same time does away with the need of any hard-wiring. However, these exploits are marred by an expensive monthly cloud storage rental that is disappointing given its already expensive price.
Users can also avail real-time view of footage through their iOS or android devices which puts this doorbell at par with the likes of Skybell HD. We were satisfied with the motion sensors of the Notifi Smart doorbell considering it has a 110 degree wide viewing angle.
One area of concern is the IoT device integration. While a large chunk of video doorbells these days offer some form of wireless IoT device integration, Notifi smart doorbell users will be left in the lurch. On the plus side, the Notifi smart doorbell does make up for its shortcomings with a good LED night vision feature that is stellar to say the least.

VTech IS741 Audio/Video Doorbell Camera
VTech has introduced IS741 as a multi-faceted doorbell/phone/camera that takes care of all your security concerns related to the doorway. It comes loaded with a special phone that’s exclusively meant for viewing the livestream.
Users can get superior voice and sound quality with this video doorbell. As soon as a visitor reaches your porch, the doorbell system immediately sends a snap as a notification on your VTech phone letting you easily vet visitors.
You can also stream a live audio/video feed onto your phone. But, the downside is users cannot record/store videos or snaps for future reference.
We were impressed with the IR night vision of the camera ably backed by a wide angle view that makes up for any slack. Also, the weatherproof nature of the camera makes it an ideal and sturdy doorbell that can withstand rainy weather.
We have many issues with this doorbell. One of the greatest limitations of this doorbell is that it can only be operated and controlled via a VTech phone, so users who don’t have it/or don’t want to use it will obviously be unhappy with the doorbell.
Secondly, the installation is a hassle because it requires a lot of drilling and hard-wiring making it one of the best video doorbells for professionals.
